Artist Statement

 The ability to notice

Deeply appreciate

The miracle of light

Falling on objects

Is a gift

I paint because it is necessary

For me

To examine the world

To communicate

Visually

My desire to understand

How roots burrow in rock

How color behaves in water

Initiates

Many small discoveries

There is much to explore

I often feel inadequate

Yet cannot abandon the quest

For everyday wonders or

A higher level of skill

The process of painting

Requires total presence in the moment

Heightened concentration

Brings revelations which

I attempt to share

A successful

Painting communicates

My vision

And

My feeling
